SXSW Film Line-Up Announced
Monday, February 8th, 2010Hidden Gem Alert: “The Way We Get By” To Open In NYC In July
Friday, June 26th, 2009
We were crying 30 seconds into the trailer, but in a good way. The Way We Get By is a deeply moving film about life and how to live it. Beginning as a seemingly quirky story about troop greeters – a group of senior citizens who gather daily at a small airport to thank American soldiers departing and returning from Iraq, the film quickly turns into a moving, unsettling and compassionate story about aging, loneliness, war and mortality. The film reminds us how our culture casts our elders, and too often our soldiers, aside. More important, regardless of your politics, The Way We Get By celebrates three unsung heroes who share their love with strangers who need and deserve it. The Way We Get By opens in New York on July 17th. Enjoy the trailer below.

This weekend it will be hard to escape stories about Angels and Demons, the sequel to The DaVinci Code and Management, starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Zahn, but bubbling under all that hype are two films you might enjoy more, The Brothers Bloom and Summer Hours.
We talked about The Brothers Bloom here and strongly encourage you to see it. Here’s a great review that backs us up.

Summer Hours stars a blonde (!) Juliette Binoche in a film about how relationships and what’s valued in a family changes over the years. Here’s a review to help with your decision. Enjoy the trailer below.
New Woody Allen/Larry David Film “Whatever Works” Set To Open June 19th
Thursday, May 7th, 2009
Fresh off a rousing reception at the Tribeca Film Festival, Woody Allen returns to New York with an offbeat comedy about a loveable crumudgeon (Larry David) and a naïve, impressionable young runaway from the south (Evan Rachel Wood). When her uptight parents, (Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley, Jr.) arrive to rescue her, they are quickly drawn into wildly unexpected romantic entanglements. Everyone discovers that finding love is just a combination of lucky chance and appreciating the value of Whatever Works.
And did you know that Larry David previously appeared in two Woody Allen movies? New York Stories and Radio Days? Sure, they were brief appearances, but we didn’t know it either. Whatever Works opens June 19th.
“Drag Me To Hell” Previews At SXSW
Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead series) returns to his horror roots with Drag Me To Hell. This is an orginal story about an ambitious loan officer who makes a fateful decision when she tries to get a leg-up on her competition.
The film stars Alison Lohman (Matchstick Men), Justin Long (Zach and Miri) and David Paymer (Mr. Saturday Night and one of the best character actors alive). The crowd at SXSW saw a “work-in-progress” edit of the film and still couldn’t stop cheering. Imagine what we’ll get in May! We think the trailer will convince you to put it on your future “must see” list.
