Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Who do we thank for making wine on tap cool for everybody?  In what is sure to make wine-snob heads explode, wine on tap is becoming popular in NYC. Turns out, keg wine is surprisingly tasty and not at all embarrassing to order. Plus, there’s the side benefit of less waste and lower price-per-glass cost!

Check out this article in the New York Post for the lowdown on keg wine and a list of some places to find wine on tap in NYC.

Food: Cupcakes Here To Stay. Blame Carrie Underwood.

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Once it becomes national news that Carrie Underwood is serving cupcakes at her wedding instead of cake, it’s official that cupcakes are here to stay.  That’s gonna make someone in Chicago very unhappy.

Click here for a cranky, but fun look at food trends that need to disappear from the Chicago Tribune.

In The Name Of Love-Yeah!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

The folks behind “A Diamond is Forever” are actually promoting the commodity of love.  A new video channel, dropeverythingforlove.com, featuring real life couples went live today here.

From now through Valentine’s Day voyeurs will find a window into intimate interviews of real people (not the perfectly-polished actors we’re normally used to seeing) declaring their love for their partners. Kind of “Sex, Lies and Videotape-ish”, but without the creepiness.

The fab Debi Mazar shares her love story on the site. She describes the love between she and husband of nine years, Gabriele Corcos, in these three words: Mercurial, Honest, Magnificant.  You can check out her video here after you skip the intro.  Look out for more celebrity videos, sprinkled in as we get closer to Valentine’s Day.

And you can sign up to: Just make your public declaration of love and take the challenge – to drop everything for love.  Your video is then submitted, edited and uploaded for all to see.   So,  you’ll want to make sure you’re love is mutual.

Zip It!

Monday, January 4th, 2010

According to the fine folks at Lake Superior State University, these are the words that have been banned in 2010 for mis-use, over-use and general monkeyshines. Dudes, we think you missed the boat on “Chillaxin” back in 2006, but whatevs. (PS. Google image search “Chillaxing” for some laughs).

“X Factor” Contestant Does The Impossible: Simon Sings Along!

Monday, August 31st, 2009

England still does most of its reality tv better than us, and “X Factor” is a classic example.  Better lighting, better set, better contestants and wonder of wonders, Simon actually looks like he enjoys being there.  But, Jamie Archer may have gone one step beyond and achieved the impossible, Simon actually sang along to part of his performance!!  The clip below shows Archer’s audition and we love it because the guy just brought it….like he’d sold-out Wembley or something.  Enjoy!

Tech Tuesday: Goofy Blogs You Might Have Missed

Monday, July 6th, 2009

2141

Slate magazine recently wrote a fun article on websites/blogs that serve a single purpose.  There’s one for awkward family photos, hipster mocking and  people asleep on the subway.  Some are pretty inappropriate, but there’s always cake wrecks and a little gem called “This is why you’re fat” with pictures of over the top artery clogging food to take a peek at. Click here to read the article and find some new favorites.  Enjoy!
